Pokemon is one of the most recognisable games in the world, and it is an IP widely known for collaborating with multiple brands, people and other IPs. This week, for example, in Pokemon GO, the series' hugely successful app that forced gamers to leave their homes in search of Pokemon, players could witness the Ed Sheeran Pokemon GO event. Perhaps the most unique collaboration Pokemon GO has had, players of the game could witness a live performance, listen to new music and catch water-starter Pokemon throughout the week leading up to the event.
Following on the heels of that is a brand new collaboration for the popular franchise. The Pokemon Company announces their collaboration with apparel brand Converse, launching a variety of clothing, including shoes, hats, t-shirts, sweaters and more which will be available both on the Converse website globally and in select retail stores.
More recently, the Pokemon Company announced their collaboration with Converse, which will feature Pokemon-themed clothing that still holds a signature Converse design. So far the revealed designs feature many of the most recognisable pocket monsters and fan favourites from the first generation Pokemon games. Pikachu, Eevee, Charmander, Bulbasaur, Squirtle and Jigglypuff appear on many of the t-shirt and shoe designs. So far, there's no confirmation on whether we'll be seeing any more Pokemon featuring on the Converse apparel, or if any additional ones from future generations will be making an appearance.
As mentioned, Pokemon has collaborated with many brands before, especially where clothing is concerned. In 2021 alone Pokemon has teamed up with Uniqlo, releasing clothes which were both available in real life and to be worn in Pokemon GO. In February, Pokemon collaborated with the UK-based company Zavvi, previoulsy known for sellling Blu-rays, DVDs and other collectibles, released a limited edition line of Pokemon clothing, centering around one of the world's most recognisable characters, Pikachu.
Pokemon's collaboration with Converse may not be the first clothing collaborationfor the franchise, though it does come at a time where the series is once again at the forefront of gaming. With Brilliant Pearl and Shining Diamond having released just a few days ago, and Pokemon Legends: Arceus being released in January of 2022, the Pokemon hype train is speeding up rapidly, with this new announcement no doubt giving fans another way to spend money on their favourite games.
The Pokémon and Converse collaboration line of clothing will be available to purchase on December 10 and can be found at Converse.com and select retail stores.
